The ratification of the 19th Amendment in 1920 was a watershed moment, granting women the right to vote and solidifying their political agency.

The emergence of the "flapper" epitomized the cultural rebellion against traditional norms, as women embraced short haircuts, bold fashion, and a liberated lifestyle that defied Victorian ideals most demonstrated through advocacy for reproductive rights.

Many women stayed in the workforce after World War I in fields including nursing, teaching, factories, retail, and clerical. Increasing numbers of women pursued higher education to enable access to professional careers.
After World War 1, women in the 1920s experienced new opportunities, obtained new political rights, exercised new freedoms, and challenged old gender roles.
