In August 1990, Iraq invaded oil-rich Kuwait. Bush assembled a broad coalition of nations to oppose Saddam Hussein's aggression through diplomacy and military action.

Ground forces quickly defeated Iraqi forces in a matter of days through Operation Desert Storm, showcasing the United States' military prowess and its ability to lead global coalitions in defense of international law and order.

However, also during his Presidency, Bush 41 faced economic challenges and intense criticism for his nomination of Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court due to allegations of sexual harassment.
The legacy of President H.W. Bush includes his leadership in the Persian Gulf War as well as criticism for his handling of domestic affairs which led to his defeat in the election of 1992.
